The bottom line
Here’s an interesting piece on Facebook and its actual profitability. Sure we hear of a massive floatation on the stock market, and a lot of investor excitement. However this article looks at the interesting point of Facebook’s bottom line. That is to say despite promising growths in Facebook’s population, profits for the first quarter are significantly down on last year equating to just 20 cents per user. Read More here
Personal Data.. Again
These days It’s all about how companies can get their hands on your personal data and then re use it to their advantage. This incident across the pond is simply another example of people’s data been taken without consent and yet another incident where it involves Google. Read More here
Another Boycott
Something to keep your eye out for following my earlier post here’s an example of where Facebook can be a pretty powerful tool. This week saw a former terminally ill marine be denied a refund by Spirit airlines; having been told he is unable to fly by his doctor. A Facebook campaign is now calling for a whole boycott of the airline, right or wrong it’s interesting to see how the social network can act as a powerful voice for many. Read more here
Innovative campaign
I have personally never been a massive fan of QR codes, and never really seen the point. However, a Korean company have certainly found and innovative way of integrating them into their campaign to attract more lunchtime custom. A 3D QR code that can only be scanned between 12-13.00PM due to the suns shadow making it complete. See more here
Creative fitness
We all here about being healthy and taking the stairs not the lift, well here at Futureheads it’s the stairs or nothing. However the guys over at EHS 4D have come up with an NFC installation called FloorD that saw all the staff get a chip that links them into a live agency competition that tracks all stairs climbed, with prizes for the most taken by individuals and departments.
