Toby's creative news and views – 24/01/2012

Hello again, I hope everyone is having a good (and busy) start to 2012 – I've got a nice selection of UI focused news for you this week so take a look, learn, and hopefully get inspired..

10 UI design principles - http://bit.ly/bFCevP

Kyle Sollenberger shares 10 key points to consider when designing a new UI. He focuses through UX, visual design, right down to the copy – centering around the point that great UI's 'stay out of the way'

Back Seat drawer - http://bit.ly/zbqddb

Firstly, excuse the terrible pun. Secondly, this looks pretty interesting. General motors are exploring the potential to install smart interactive touch screens into rear windows. Will the future hold a moment where we won't be near a touch-screen?

Myspace TV - http://bit.ly/zB5jMz

For those of you that use Myspace to discover new content such as music, sports, and news - you will now be able to access your account through an application on Panasonic TV's. The idea is that you can discover the content you love, whilst sharing it with the people in your life, all through your TV. Let's poll the number of Myspace users who have a 'Panasonic Viera Connect Smart TV'.

I also wanted to share some great examples of UI design with you to hopefully inspire you in your next designs – take a look and let me know your thoughts.

Brilliant UI's - http://8020.com/

New York Based 80/20, a dedicated Interface design agency show some amazing work on their site. Look at the simplicity of the Vodafone 360 service and how great it looks!

Poke Design the Orange Bafta's site - http://bit.ly/xNJg7f

Poke London have recently designed their latest project for Orange and as always, it looks great! The site aggregates film reviews from the web, twitter, Facebook, and Film club. It has the feel of a web application and is nice and easy to use, have a go yourself @ bafta.orange.co.uk/

That's all from me again this week, see you next week and hopefully speak to you in between.
