Hello,

I've got three articles this week that will hopefully generate a little bit of debate. Feel free to post your thoughts to our LinkedIn group - http://linkd.in/OokjP1

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Is the Internet a human right? http://bit.ly/M782Du

Last week 47 members of the United Nations Human Rights Council unanimously agreed that the internet is a basic human right. Believe it or not, this has proved to be relatively controversial.

The main argument for is that the internet gives access to wide reaching information and offers freedom of expression that no other medium can. Digital also now has exclusive content that has replaced physical products.

On the flip side, I'm not sure it comes anywhere near the top of the priorities list. Is it fair to line up the internet alongside life, healthcare, food, water, and shelter?

"Design Consultancies are Dead" http://bit.ly/MQDzHR

Trying to keep my opinion out, this article explores the claim that the best environment to be in as a designer is a start-up.

It follows the argument of a previous assumption that the only route to impact was by working for established agencies and consultancies. They argue that these days things are very different. That you can now dream up, create, and ship your product to market without the help of big agencies.

Whilst this might be true, I'm pretty sure that not all start-ups do revolutionary work and that the majority of designers still want to work in agency environments. Oops, opinion crept in.

Will Youview smarten up your TV? http://bit.ly/OEJrVg

It looks slick and sounds so promising, but does Youview actually offer anything revolutionary? One of the biggest issues for me is that although Youview is backed by big names such as BBC, ITV, and Channel 4, users already have free access to anytime content through their respective media players. Why pay £299 to have something that's already free?
