I’m working with an eCommerce business who are a household name in novelty gifts and greetings cards. They have been instrumental in establishing the online personalised gifts market and continue to remain the market leaders. This year they aim to introduce new product lines and experiment with fresh design concepts. They’re a progressive business who are not afraid to experiment with emerging technologies (including AI and machine learning) in order to remain at the pinnacle of their industry.
Teams are organised into agile squads and include a Scrum Master, product owners, tech (FEDs/BEDs/Full-Stack) UX Designers and UI Designers. Depending on the programme schedule, there are between 5-8 teams at any one time sitting across checkout basket, product customisation and storefront – with a further squad sitting holistically across them all. Teams are rotated to ensure that everyone gets a good level of variety in their work.
They’re now looking to add a User Research function to sit across all teams and the entire business. This will be an initial 2-person team featuring this role and a Lead User Researcher. You’ll report into and be guided by the Lead, who will in turn report into C-level executives.
There is a huge appetite for User Research within the business and they recognise this as a vital function to their continued success. They're actioning several ideas that they'd like the research function to contribute towards. Working alongside the lead, you’ll be tasked with performing usability testing but also researching solutions wider business questions.
- Comfortable performing usability testing, desk research and running workshops
- Experience working within a collaborative environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities – you should know how to present and communicate ideas in a concise, easily digestible fashion
- A passion for answering wider research questions
- Previous experience in eCommerce is ideal, but not a requisite
- Further, as this is an international group, being bi-lingual (particularly French/Spanish/German) would be a bonus!
A great opportunity for a user researcher eager to join a new research team within an established digital process. As mentioned, they’re also looking for a lead user researcher, so do feel free to share my details with anyone who you deem suitable (potentially anyone you’d be eager to work with! )
There is so much more to this role than I’m able to fit into this advert, so if you’d like to find out more then please send your CV over to firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll follow up with further specs.
